Hunger is no joke and I need your help. I aim to start a movement where we take ownership and prioritize the health of our own kids. And then take it a step further. We need to advocate for actual food. Step by step, in most institutions, for all ages. With every fiber of my being I believe we can create change. But I cannot do it alone.
Food programs are giving a temporary fix to a rumbly tummy but are actually making our population more sick. The motives and manpower behind such programs are admirable, and usually come from people with very big hearts. I understand all of that.
I am here to point out that school lunches, food found in hospitals, and food found in other care centers are overwhelmingly processed, chemical-filled food-like products. We are literally poisoning the people that need the most care. I find this unconscionable.
Let’s focus today on children.
Do you literally believe that a child will be able to concentrate or grow mentally or physically with a diet of junk food? How about fighting off disease? How are their precious little bodies supposed to do that without basic nutrition? Let’s break it down again. Food that we ingest will either heal us or harm us. Our bodies will welcome it like a nice big hug or will go into fight mode to deal with it from the inside out. Little bodies will be calm or little bodies will be inflamed. How are your little ones doing? What can you do today to help?
Let me remind you that I have raised two kids and worked in the public schools for 29 years. I am very familiar with the obstacles and roadblocks that we as individuals and as a society face. And I know that many of you are choosing to look the other way because it is easier, you are overwhelmed, or do not know where to start. Work with me to get steps tailored to you and your family. It is possible, and we owe it to the kiddos to give them the best start in life we can.
